Yoga is a fun way for children to connect to themselves and others whilst developing strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, as well as increasing body awareness, concentration and self-esteem in a safe, nurturing environment. Kids and Teen yoga provides an alternative to competitive, organised sport, which for some children, can result in self-criticism and a loss of self-confidence. Kids yoga provides a platform of complete positive regard where children can explore and express themselves in a non-judgemental, supportive environment, allowing them to relax and feel into their bodies.

Krystle's classes are designed to allow for spontaneity within a structure, allowing children to express themselves creatively and freely while learning to listen to and respect themselves and each other.

Through mindful movement, they learn to really tune into their bodies and develop body awareness and acceptance of their physical limitations. They learn to do what’s right for their body and mind, not what others are doing or what others expect them to do – what a great way to develop a positive body image and to develop the ability to make good choices when dealing with peer pressure.

There is growing evidence to support the benefits of yoga practice for children,

  • Improves focus and concentration

  • Improves strength, flexibility and balance, enabling children to sit for longer periods

  • Yoga incorporates movement which crosses the midline, enhancing brain alertness, creativity, memory and the ability to learn

  • Increases the ability to self-regulate

  • Decreases negative behaviours

  • Encourages cooperation and teamwork through collaboration and partner work

  • Teaches children how to manage their own stress and anxiety

  • Helps children feel relaxed and grounded

  • Increase in cognition

  • Nourishes creativity

  • Builds coordination, improves their fine and gross motor skills

  • Develops self-discipline and self-control

  • Expands self-awareness, awareness of others and awareness of the world around them

  • Creates a calmer, happier more cooperative classroom!
